My Go-To Tools for Metabolic Balance

Following the Metabolic Balance program has definitely been a transformative experience—but let’s be honest, it can also feel a bit overwhelming at times. These are a few things I’ve added to my toolkit along the way. Some are simple upgrades, others feel like game-changers—but all of them make the process of following Metabolic Balance smoother, tastier, and more sustainable.

I’m sharing them here in case they help you too! No pressure, of course—just things I’ve personally found useful in my own journey.

The Every Day Essentials:

Digital Food Scale ($12)

Why I love it: Essential for accurately measuring portions, especially during Phase 2. A good digital scale makes it fast and easy to stick to the plan. This is the one I use. It is slim, easy to clean and travels easily as well!

Body Tape Measure ($14)

Why I love it: This little tool is way more accurate than the old wraparound tape I used to guess with. It clicks and locks in place so you only need one hand—making it super easy to track changes and stay motivated.

Steitenbacher Broth ($10)

Why I love it: Totally compliant in both Phases 1 and 2, and so helpful when your meals are missing oil. I use it to cook meats, veggies, or even just to sip—it adds richness and flavor without breaking the rules.

Lepulse Body Composition Scale ($75)

Why I love it: This scale does way more than just weight—it gives insights into body fat, muscle mass, hydration, and more. It’s great for seeing the real changes happening during Metabolic Balance, even when the number on the scale moves slowly. Super motivating, and it syncs with your phone for easy tracking.

Tribest PB-350 Personal Blender ($99)

Why I love it: I used this every day to make my sauces and dressings. It’s powerful, compact, and blends everything to a smooth, creamy perfection. I love it because you can use a glass mason jar instead of blending in plastic—so much cleaner and safer, especially for everyday use. It’s quick to set up, easy to clean, and the jars double as storage, which makes meal prep a breeze.

Air Fryer: not necessary, but super helpful ($210)

Why I love it: Absolute lifesaver during the no-oil phase...or any phase. I can cook meat and veggies together in under 20 minutes. Crispy edges, quick cleanup, and I honestly didn’t miss the oil at all and I couldn't believe how quickly I could make my meals.

Oils for after day 16:

Once you hit Day 17, it is time to add oils back into your plan. Here are my recommendations for when you hit that milestone. I choose high quality oils that are organic, minimally processed, and have no extra additives or preservatives.

PURE INDIAN FOODS Grass Fed Ghee, 14 OZ ($26)

Why I love it: This ghee is the real deal. PURE INDIAN FOODS only uses milk from grass-fed cows during the grass season—when the cows are eating fresh, nutrient-rich pasture. That matters, because milk from cows in the winter (when they’re fed stored feed instead of fresh grass) is missing key nutrients and doesn’t have the same vibrant quality. This ghee is rich, golden, and packed with the good fats and vitamins that come from real, fresh grass. I love cooking with it—it adds amazing flavor and pure, clean nourishment to everything.

Dr. Bronner's - Organic Virgin Coconut Oil ($22)

Why I love it: Dr. Bronner’s Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is amazing for both cooking and skincare. It comes in a glass bottle, so there’s no plastic contamination—just pure coconut goodness. It’s sourced from regenerative farms, organic, raw, and cold-pressed, which means all the nutrients and natural flavor are preserved. I love using it for cooking, baking, and even moisturizing—feels good knowing it’s clean, sustainable, and truly high quality.

Atlas Organic Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil ($21)

Why I love it: Atlas Organic Cold Pressed Moroccan Extra Virgin Olive Oil is my go-to for finishing dishes. I’m careful with olive oils—if they’re too cheap, it can be a red flag that they’re diluted or low quality. This one has the right certifications, so I know it’s pure, healthy, and truly extra virgin. It has a rich, fresh flavor, and I love drizzling it over salads, roasted veggies, or even just dipping bread—adds that perfect, nutrient-rich touch to every meal. Remember to not cook with your olive oil!

Flora High Lignan Flax Oil ($27 with your 20% off)

Why I love it: is my go-to flax oil for daily nutrition. It’s 100% pure, unrefined, and packed with essential fatty acids—omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9—plus naturally occurring lignans that support digestion and overall health. I love that it tastes incredibly clean, without the fishy flavor you sometimes get from other oils that aren’t processed or sealed under nitrogen. Flora uses a careful, nitrogen-flush process that helps preserve freshness and gives it a longer shelf life. The added lignans also provide beneficial antioxidants, phytoestrogens, and natural fiber. I like to drizzle it over smoothies, yogurt, or salads for an easy boost of plant-based nutrition and a clean, nutty flavor that feels as good as it tastes.

Reusable Silicone Food Storage Bags ($14)

Why I love it: I loved keeping my food in safe, non-toxic containers, and these reusable silicone bags were perfect for that. They’re sturdy, seal tightly, and work great in the fridge or freezer. I’d write right on them and label each one with breakfast, lunch, or dinner portions—so I could just grab exactly what I needed without any guesswork. Super organized, sustainable, and easy to clean—these made meal prep feel effortless.

Meal Containers ($16-$90)

Why I love it: These are a total upgrade from plastic bags and clunky containers. Made from sturdy silicone, they stand up on their own, seal quite well, and work in the fridge, freezer, microwave, and especially the dishwasher. I use them to store extra cut fruit and veggies, and the larger ones hold a full meal for travel or restaurant. Plus, they’re made in the USA and last forever-- no waste, and super easy to clean.

Travel Purse ($20-$30)

Why I love it: This is my go-to “food purse” when I’m on the move. It’s lightweight but holds everything—snacks, utensils, mini condiments, even a small glass container if needed. The waterproof nylon keeps spills from being a disaster, and the multiple compartments help keep things organized and discreet. Plus, it actually looks cute, so I never feel like I’m lugging around a lunch bag.

If You Really Want to Travel, These Can Be Game Changers...

I used to think road trips and the Metabolic Balance plan couldn’t mix… but after a 5-day trip where I prepped all my proteins ahead of time, packed my travel bags, and plugged this into the car—I can honestly say it was much easier than I expected. I even used this for a 4 day retreat at an all vegetarian center because I could plug it into my room. No more messing with cold packs and worrying about the temp of your food!

Small Road Cooler ($100)

Why I love it: This portable fridge plugs right into your car (or a standard outlet) and keeps pre-cooked proteins, veggies, and even drinks perfectly cold. It saved me from relying on restaurant menus or gas station food during a full road trip. Big enough to hold several meals, but small enough to fit in the backseat and easy to carry. Total lifesaver.

Larger Cooler or Freezer ($140-$300)

Why I love it: This portable fridge/feezer is great for anyone serious about sticking to Metabolic Balance while traveling. When I went to Maine, I knew I wouldn't be able to find good quality meats where I was going...but we were taking a 4 day trip to get up there...so a normal cooler would not work. After much research, I decided on this freezer for my meats...but it can be at any temperature, so could act as a fridge as well. It's a great price and fit my needs perfectly! The meat stayed frozen for all 4 days.
